Life in the school is active and varied. You will join in with the teaching of some of the students at Juelsminde and help to support the teachers to educate the children in a range of subjects. There is a full music room brimming with melodic possibilites, a large sports hall, and a workshop with metal working and wood working equiptment.
Spending Time in the Carehomes
Part of the process of getting to know the students at the school is spending some time at where they live in various carehomes. This is an opportunity to spend some quality time with the students outside of a school setting and engage with them in various extra curricular activities.
Summer Theatre
Each year the schools put on a theatre perfomance which is part of a competition between schools and an opportunity for parents to come and see part of their childs education. This is a time of hard work, perseverence, lots of fun and tears and sweat.
Olympics Events
Every year the schools gather and compete in a huge sporting event that involves lots of other students and DIs. According to the DIs this is one of the highlights of their experiences in Denmark.
Building Weekends
On certain weekends, a coordinated practical action based upon people power renovates one of the Tvind schools and virtually instantaneously the area is transformed. This is a great chance to learn and share new practical skills and its always a satisfying moment to see the end results of our work.
